Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior OSP Engineer to lead the design and implementation of outside plant infrastructure, including copper and fiber networks. This role involves everything from planning and estimating to overseeing project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimizing network performance. This will be a full-time 40 HRS/week position.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and engineer fiber and copper networks, including aerial, buried, and underground infrastructure.
- Prepare engineering plans, technical drawings, and reports to support OSP projects.
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing telecom, power, and utility infrastructure.
- Develop cost estimates and budgets, tracking expenditures against projections.
- Ensure compliance with OSP design standards, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Obtain rights-of-way and easements, coordinating with municipalities and utility providers.
- Oversee and review the work of junior engineers, providing guidance and quality control.
- Manage road moves, relocations, and network expansions, ensuring seamless execution.
- Utilize GIS mapping, CAD software, and industry-specific tools for precision design.
- Conduct field inspections to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality of installations.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience in OSP engineering, with a deep understanding of fiber and copper network infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret and update OSP records, maps, and CAD drawings.
- Strong knowledge of right-of-way acquisition, easements, and permitting processes.
- Experience managing OSP projects and engineering teams, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Familiarity with industry standards, including NESC, NEC, and local telecom regulations.
- Proficiency in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and project management software.
- Strong analytical skills to assess design feasibility, cost estimates, and risk factors.
- Ability to work in the field and use necessary tools such as a measuring wheel, height stick, and pull finder.
- Experience with local network infrastructure and service provider requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Pay Rate $45/hr
